When Ben and Mat Gamel were growing up, their grandfather’s backyard was large and pristine, so they turned it into a makeshift baseball field. They borrowed a broom from the garage and grandpa George grabbed his stash of wine corks. They set up markers throughout the yard and “Pops” would start tossing them corks.
For hours, the Gamel brothers would hit corks with the broom handle, working on hand-eye coordination and honing their swings. When they needed a break or the other wanted to take a turn, they would switch. It was in these sessions where they learned how to play the game of baseball.
