KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Beyond the brilliance of Madison Bumgarner, several little things made a big difference for the San Francisco Giants as they held on for a memorable Game 7 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

A flip, a flare and a clutch performance from a 35-year-old pitcher who was drafted by the Royals all played important roles in the 3-2 win.

The youngest member of the Giants’ Game 7 lineup made perhaps their biggest defensive play, making a diving stop to start a double play and snuff out a potential Royals rally in the third inning.
